Crit is simply short for circuit. A crit race is round a circuit, generally multiple laps of a relatively short circuit, often involving tight bends. In West Lothian’s case, this is a tarmac circuit, but a custom built facility with no vehicular access, so you can focus on the other riders & not worry about cars.
